Preventative Dentistry
We at the Advanced Dental Group are excited to offer to our patients the most advanced oral x-ray technology in the world, conveniently located right within our office.
Our office now utilizes a high-tech machine called an i-CAT to acquire 3-D CT scans of our patients' head and neck anatomy, specifically for dental purposes. At the current time, there are only a few hundred i-CATs in the entire world, and only 4 others in the state of MN.
The i-CAT uses cone beam volumetric technology to create 3-D data sets which identically replicate the anatomy of the head and neck in a 1:1 ratio. This data greatly assists our doctors in evaluating implant placement and restoration options, discovering pathologies, planning orthodontic procedures, aiding in extractions and analyzing airway capacity. The i-CAT provides this wealth of information in 20 seconds, with only slightly more radiation than a traditional panoramic film, making it an invaluable resource to our team.
Adding to the value of your scan, is a comprehensive reading of your entire data set by one of only two oral radiologists in the state of Minnesota. After your scan has been taken you will receive a call from your Advanced Dental Group doctor discussing your scan and explaining any findings and recommendations. You will also receive your full oral radiological report. We feel this new service will enhance even more, the level of care you receive at the Advanced Dental Group.
- Preventive Care Appointments: These important appointments allow our doctors and hygienists to monitor your oral health and to clean under your gum line where the toothbrush cannot reach. It also helps promote health gums.
- Sealants: These plastic coatings are applied to molars and premolars to seal out decay-producing plaque. They are painlessly applied and last two to three years before they need replacement. Sealants serve in a preventative capacity to reduce the risk of cavities and more costly fillings. They can be applied on baby or adult teeth. We have four hygienists available to help you maintain your health.
- Fluoride Treatment: This treatment hardens the enamel on your teeth to make it more difficult for cavities to start.
- X-Rays: These help our doctors detect cavities that cannot be seen by the eye (i.e. in-between teeth).
- Minor Tooth Movement: This is an adult orthodontic procedure to reposition teeth for esthetic or prosthetic management.
- Nightguard Therapy: Nightguards are used as a treatment option to prevent damage to the dentition from grinding and clenching. It is a conservative and reversible treatment modality that is usually well tolerated by patients and is very successful.
